Larry left corporate America a couple of years ago to manage Castle Rock Homebrew Supply and work on the fringe of the Craft Beer scene, a lifelong ambition. When the homebrew shop closed its doors he was a natural fit to become our winemaker with a couple of decades of successful vintages under his belt as a passionate home winemaker.
I joined the the 105W team in 2021, becoming the Head Winemaker Dude* in September of 2022. (*that my actual title ;^)
I gravitate towards Pale Ales and IPAs; Hopped & Loaded is my got to beer in the taproom. I also like big red wines - Cabernet Franc might be my favorite varietal.
The 2022 Crush and Press, Bear'L Cellars' first-ever. The outpouring of enthusiasm and goodwill from our volunteer crew was infectious, having never made wine at that scale. After that two week period I knew we'd have a successful 2022 vintage!
Building on the success of Castle Rock Homebrew Store, the brewery was a natural evolution. 105 West has become a cornerstone of the Castle Rock community, bringing together folks of all kinds from across our community.
From the beginning in 2015
All of them or mostly all of them.
Opening day success.
He is the former tap room manager, and current beertender, social media guy, Sam's Club propane filler...needless to say, the guy wears a few hats. And according to his profile pic, could wear at least one more.
I started working at 105 in 2016
Bear Chested Russian Imperial Stout
That one night where all that stuff and that thing happened and all those people were there, you were there, right? That was AWESOME!!!
Kat's been an immediate fit, since she joined the team. She's also the mastermind behind some of our favorite events, like Yoga at the Brewery. You'll also see her with a walkie running around the Castle Rock Brewfest Under the Stars.
I joined the team in 2021.
105 West Mango Jalapeno (A Hayley OG)/ but I love dark beers :)
When I surprised Alex with an Alex appreciation day before his knee surgery and we had over 30+ people dressed exactly like him! ;)
Hayley has been the head brewer at 105 West since 2022, having started in the taproom, and moving to the brewhouse in 2020.
I started in the taproom in early 2020, and moved over to the brewhouse as an assistant brewer in July of that same year.
My favorite is our 105 West Mexican Lager
Meeting all these awesome, amazing, wonderful humans that work here, but especially Kat anddddd Joey :) + Running around at BrewFest Under the Stars with a squirt gun :)
Starting in the old homebrew shop, Jason has been around since before the beginning of 105 West Brewing Company.
I started working at Castle Rock Homebrew in 2014.
My favorite is our 105 West Dark Mexican Lager.
On my first day at the homebrew shop, Eric was showing me around and he started to move one of the display coolers around and he forgot there was stuff on top of the cooler. As he pushed the cooler and a big metal stand came down and sliced his neck open.
Eric asks me if he should get stitches. I'm not sure what to do, so I called his wife, Barb. She shows up with 3 kids and a dog. Well, Barb does not like blood. On sight of Eric bleeding profusely from the neck, she immediately passes out. Boom. Down she went. Now, I'm standing there wondering, who do I take care of first?! There are 3 confused kids and a dog standing around. Eric is still bleeding. Barb is passed out.
In the end, we ended up bandaging Eric. Barb was fine. That, my friends, is a hell of a first day.
Having joined the 105 West team from the other side of the bar, Pat is a dedicated craft beer enthusiast, and excellent brand ambassador. As his profile picture makes clear. Not a drop of beer was spilt there. Honest.
That would be 2022.
I've got two favorites: the 105 West Dark Mexican Lager, and Quaffable Boiis.
Brew fest under the stars, final act, all of us are hanging out drinking beers, dancing and having a good time! :)
Joey jumped on board to helm the 105 West Pizza truck, and has been innovating recipes with the team ever since.
I started working here in 2022.
The 105 West Dark Mexican Lager, no doubt.
My brew day with Hayley!
105 West Brewing Company and Bear’l Cellars were established as gratuity-free establishments. From our beginning we choose to pay our staff a living wage, because we believe that being a part of a community means taking care of those around us.
From time to time, our generous patrons would leave something extra behind. Turns out our staff believes in taking care of those around us as well. So, they decided to pool any cash left behind and donate it to a local charity.
Today, we support a local charity every month. If you would like our community to support your organization, drop us a line, and we’ll see what we can do.
